LET'S GET FAMILIAR WITH PAINTS

Whether spartan, modest or luxurious, your house/apartment can be transformed radically by your choice of paints in the different spaces that have been created for you and your family.

In the main, paints serve two purposes:

• They address the needs of aesthetics.

• They provide protection to your walls and woodwork.

The first is often a subjective issue because the colour, texture and finish that appeals to you may not find favour with, say, your friends or, indeed, even with every member of your family.

The second is invariably a less controversial issue because the merits of all available paints are known. When a debate ensues on this score, it is largely with respect to the longevity and maintenance of the paint finish and, of course - regardless of your well-considered choice - what your budget permits and what it prohibits.
